Projective Invariance and Orientation Consensus for Extracting Boundary Con gurations
نویسنده
چکیده
This work focusses on boundary detection of target objects by extracting conngurations of straight lines. Hough transformation is used as basic voting technique for extracting the image lines. To nd the appropriate peaks in the bin array of the Hough transform and thus estimating the line parameters a three-step procedure is involved. First, the Hough transform is constrained appropriately by the local orientations of grey level edges. Second, the global histogram of edge orientations is used to more or less emphasize certain parts in the Hough image. With these two modiications of the standard Hough transform we incorporate principles of orientation consensus and thus sharpen the peaks in the parameter space. Third, parallelism as a quasi-invariant of perspective projection is used to apply a sophisticated search strategy. Throughout the approach no speciic object models but only basic principles of the imaging process are involved in extracting the boundary lines.

Robust parallel robot calibration with partial information
A new algorithm for calibrating Gough platforms is proposed. It requires internal sensor measurements and only the position information provided by external sensors. It removes the need to measure orientation, which is intricate and error-prone, by algebraic elimination. This approach, relying on resultants and dialytic elimination, produces an equivalent, yet simpler, set of equations. Numeric...
متن کاملCon gurations of curves and geodesics on surfaces
We study con gurations of immersed curves in surfaces and surfaces in 3{manifolds. Among other results, we show that primitive curves have only nitely many con gurations which minimize the number of double points. We give examples of minimal con gurations not realized by geodesics in any hyperbolic metric. AMS Classi cation 53C22; 57R42

An optimization procedure aimed at the design of multicomponent airfoils for high-lift applications is described. The procedure is based on a multiobjective genetic algorithm; two #ow solvers have been coupled with the genetic algorithm: a viscous}inviscid interaction method, based on an Euler #ow solver and an integral boundary layer routine, and a method based on a full potential #ow solver. ...
متن کاملComputing 3-D head orientation from a monocular image sequence
An approach for estimating 3D head orientation in a monocular image sequence is proposed. The approach employs recently developed image-based parameterized tracking for face and face features to locate the area in which a sub-pixel parameter-ized shape estimation of the eye's boundary is performed. This involves tracking of ve points (four at the eye corners and the fth is the tip of the nose)....

ABSTRACT Soware Product Lines (SPLs) have many features for customization. is raises the challenge to nd good performing congurations for an anticipated workload. As SPL conguration spaces are huge, it is infeasible to benchmark all congurations to nd an optimal one. Prior work focused on building performance models to predict and optimize SPL congurations; we randomly sample and recurs...
